The death has taken place in Ayrshire, Scotland of Mr. Jamesie McCauley, brother of Mr. Bernard McCauley, Mahanagh. As children the late Mr. McCauley and his brother Bernard came to live in Drumshanbo with their late relative Luke Doyle – The Bard of Lough Allen. Jamesie returned to Scotland but returned to visit the locality on a regular basis. We extend our deepest sympathy to Bernard and Jamesie’s surviving family in Scotland. The Funeral takes place in Ayr on this Friday. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
There will be a benefit auction in aid of the James Gill Cancer fund in Drumshanbo Mart on this Friday, April 19th at 8.30pm. Items for auction include a heifer, one and a half tons of animal feed, Tanka hedge trimmer and numerous other great items. Please come along to support this brave young man in his fight for life and to help him to get funding for further treatment in the U.S.
Drumshanbo Area Community Games
Well done to all the boys who took part in the Connacht finals held in Carrick-on-Shannon on Saturday, 5th April. Our team was made up of boys from Ballinaglera, Drumshanbo and Kiltubrid areas. Team members included Ronan Moran, Iarlaith O’Brien, Shane McKeon, Rory O’Donnell, Mark Reynolds, Jake Tobin, Liam McGourty and Enda Lowe. They did their coaches proud and unfortunately lost out on a penalty shoot out and depriving them from getting through to the final. Special thanks to their coaches for bringing them to this stage and to the hard working organisers on the day.
There are over 32 kids from the area going to the swimming county final in the Aura in Carrick-on-Shannon on Sunday, 21 April. Booking in from 6.20pm and competition starts at 7pm. Entry fee is €4 per child.
Our athletic event is happening in Kiltubrid pitch on Friday, 26th April at 6 o’clock. Events include both track and field from under 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16. Special race for the toddler and under 6 year olds. Further information will be given out in the local schools closer to the date.
Strictly Come Dancing
A Strictly Come Dancing Night takes place in the Lough Allen Hotel on this Saturday 20th at 8pm. The event is in aid of Óisín Dolan’s Mayoral Campaign. Tickets at the door.
Co. Development Plan public meeting
A public meeting in relation to the review of the Co. Leitrim development Plan takes place in the Bush Hotel on Tuesday of next week (23rd) at 6.30pm.All members of the public are welcome.

Valley Rovers FC U12 Boys have reached the semi-final in Group A of the Sligo/Leitrim league. This game will be played at Valley Rovers home ground in Park Ailbhe, Geevagh on tomorrow (Thursday) 18th April at 6.30pm. Valley Rovers FC would like to invite you all to come along to cheer on the boys as the attempt to reach the final for the second year in a row. An exciting and enjoyable game is guaranteed!! Drumkeerin Drama Group presents “Say Cheese”
Drumkeerin Drama Group is back on stage this coming weekend Friday, April 19th, Saturday, April 20th and Sunday, April 21st with their annual production in Drumkeerin Community Centre. This year they perform Bernard Farrell’s great comedy drama, “Say Cheese”. There is an excellent storyline with plently of twists and surprises which greatly add to the drama, suspense and comedy. Performances commence at 8.45pm each night and on time so come early and do not miss a beat. Doors open at 8pm.
