Senior Citizens Committee A.G.M.

The A.G.M. of the Ballinamore Area Senior Citizens Committee takes place next Monday night, 22nd April at 9pm in Trathnona Community Centre. All members please attend.

Darts

The last competition in the Ballinamore Dart League for this season takes place next Friday night the 19th of April, it’s for all under 25 year olds in the League, it is hoped a good crowd of younger players turn up for the competition, starting time is 10.30pm and the venue is Ossie’s.

Active Age Group

Ballinamore Active Age Group are holding their next meeting in Trathnona on Thursday, April 18th at 3pm. A beautician will attend. Church Street, Ballinamore, Sunday Service is at 12.15pm every Sunday except on the 4th Sunday which is held in Drumreilly Church.

Millrace Drama Group

The multi award-winning production by Millrace Drama Group of Trad by Mark Doherty is being performed in the Cornmill Theatre in Carrigallen on Sat 20 and Sunday 21st April ahead of their participation in the All Ireland Finals in Rossmore, Co Cork on Fri 26th April. Show starts at 8:30pm tickets available on the door.

Ballinamore Bridge Club

Results for 11th April: 1st Mary McTiernan and Mary Flynn. Joint second Marian Quinn and Sean Creamer. Monica Sharpley and Bernie Flynn. 4th Carrie Maroney and Maureen Dolphin. Bridge continues on Thursday 18th at 7pm. Final night of bridge takes place on 25th April.

Ballinamore Tidy Towns

We had a great Annual Spring Clean, a big turn out, lots of litter picked, painting and bridge cleaning. Thank you to everyone who helped on the day, also to Michael of Super Valu for providing refreshments afterwards. Our AGM will take place on Thursday 25 April in Smyths Siopa Ol at 8.30pm. Please come along.

Church News

Lourdes Pilgrimage from the diocese from Mon 27th May – Thurs 1st June. There are still places for those who travel as sick and these are subsidised. You should consider going First Holy Communion takes place on Sat 27th April at 11.00am. The collection for the Diocesan Vocation and Support Services will be taken up next weekend. You have an envelope for it. It pays costs for youth services, marriage preparation and counselling and various diocesan activities, also primary schools office, a part time accountant etc. St Patrick’s Day offertory Collection in aid of Kilmore Missions €1,630. Thank you.

Daffodil Day

Many many thanks to everyone who contributed to our collection, a special thanks to the collectors (over 2 days) and the businesses who allowed us to collect around their premises and everyone who helped in any way. The collection amounted to €3,967.

Plastic Collection

Senior Help Line is a national confidential telephone listening service for older people provided by trained older volunteers for the price of a local call anywhere in Ireland, LoCall 1850 440 444. Pilgrimage to Knock

All Parishioners are invited to a special Pilgrimage to Knock Shrine on Saturday 20th April. There is a full programme organised for Adults; Teenagers; Children and all the programmes are running separately on the day. The programmes begin at 10.45am and finish with Mass, blessing of the sick, Eucharistic Procession and Benediction at 3pm. Archbishop Brown, our Apostolic Nuncio, will be the main celebrant. Children’s Adoration for Ireland will be launched also.

Notice of Public Meeting

Members of the public and interested parties are invited to attend a public meeting in relation to the review of the County Development Plan 2009 – 2015 and preparation of a new County Development Plan 2015 - 2021 as follows; Manorhamilton in Bee Park Centre on Thursday 18th April 2013 at 6.30pm. Carrick on Shannon in the Bush Hotel on Tuesday 23rd April at 6.30pm. Your pre draft plan views/submissions will be taken into consideration in the making of the new Plan. A Night of Fashion

Tesco Ballinamore & Cara Pharmacy present “A Night of Fashion” in Freddie’s Nightclub, Ballinamore on 20th April in aid of AWARE. A wine reception will be held at 7.30pm prior to the show commencing at 8pm sharp. Tickets cost €8 per adult & €2 per child. Guests will be treated to a goody bag on the night courtesy of Cara Pharmacy. Entertainment on the night by DJ Eamon & a raffle will be held with fantastic spot prizes to be won on the night also. We hope you will join us for what promises to be an excellent night of fashion & entertainment.

Clothes appeal

United Christian Aid is once again appealing for clothes for families & orphanages in Moldova. Any kind of wearable clothing, men’s, women’s, children’s. Bed wear, nappies, soft toys. In need of Communion & Wedding Dresses Collection will take place at O’Brien’s Sports Shop Ballinamore Saturday 4th May 2013. From 11am to 4pm only. Ballinamore Women’s Group

There are some place available for the weekend trip to Letterkenny, staying in the Mount Errigal Hotel from the 17th to 19th of May. Total cost which includes two bed & breakfast, two evening meals and a trip to Malin Head is €145. A deposit of €50 must be paid to secure a place. Enquires to 9644785 as soon as possible.

Training continues Tuesday and Thursday at 7.00.p.m.with new members always welcome.

Employer Based Training Programme or “EBT” is a 12 month-funded programme which can help you improve your skills and secure employment.
