Cloone/Aughavas Community Playschool

We are now taking bookings for September 2013 for children who are 2 years and 10 months on September 1st 2013. We are also providing places under the ECCE Scheme. If your chid is going to school in September and was born betwen February 2nd 2009 and June 30th 2010, they are entitled to avail of the Free Pre-School Year. Cloone ICA

Our next meeting will take place in Cloone Community Centre at 8:30pm on May 13th. All members are asked to attend our Monday night craft. Classes will stop for summer on this Monday night, April 29th and will start again in September. Any unfinished items will completed then. A special thanks to Marie Donohoe for great dedicated and new skills. All those who attended were very happy with results. Those who wanted patchwork and quiltery will be first on the agenda in September. Have your needles, thread and bits and pieces of patches all ready. We had a wonderful spring of fundraising working on various craft. Some members attended different events in An Grianan, in Carrick-on-Shannon, etc.

Our new members are a great addition to our group. We would like to thank all those who came out night after night to make it such an enjoyable winter. I hope you have very happy summer and we look forward to seeing you soon again in the harvest.

Cloone/Aughavas Active Age

Our next meeting is being held on Wednesday May 8th at 8pm in Cloone Community Centre to finalise details of the Wicklow trip and to distribute Intervention cheese. All members are saked to attend to collect their allocation or arrange for someone to collect it on their behalf.

Fatima N.S.

3rd Green School Flag: Congratulations to Fatima N.S. Cloone who have received notification that they are to be awarded their third Green School Flag. This year’s theme was Water Conservation and the pupils and staff have been working on the project for two school years. The school was awarded their first Green Flag for Litter and Waste Management over six years ago,and have renewed the award every two years since.

Confirmation: Fourteen young people from the Parish of Cloone were confirmed by Bishop Colm O’Reilly at a beautiful ceremony in the newly refurbished St. Mary’s Church, Cloone on Saturday, April 20th. This years confirmation class were: Eva Keegan,Lisa Gill, Saoirse Kellegher, Jamie Beirne, Ryan Lennon, Joseph Bohan, Orla Bohan, Catherine Nicholl, Grainne Reynolds, Saoirse Fox,Taidhg Doherty, Peter McHugh, Niall Lennon, and Niall Keegen. The pupils were all from Miss Grainne Baxter’s 5th and 6th class. Congratulations and God’s blessings on them all.

“We are Writers” Book: As part of the celebrations of the Golden Jubilee of Fatima N.S. the pupils in the school have all recently contributed writings to their very own book. The book which was published by Scholastic Ireland is on display at the Scholastic Book Fair which is on-going in the school’s G.P.Room at present.It is available to order through the school for €8. The profits from the book will go to school funds.

Mohill and District Historical Society

Our next meeting of the Mohill and District Historical Society will take place on Tuesday the 7th of May in the Canon Donohue Hall at 8.30pm sharp. We are privileged to have as our guest speaker, Fr. Liam Kelly, famed author and historian. He will give a presentation on local history accompanied by a collection of historical photographs. All those who are interested in local history should avail of this wonderful opportunity. All are welcome to attend this very special evening.
