Managed Resource Development Ltd (MRD), the community company established in 1989 with the aim of facilitating the development, management and promotion of the resources and assets of Carrick-on-Shannon for the benefits of the wider community and in particular the Market Yard are inviting community and voluntary groups in the town to nominate potential directors to the board of MRD Ltd.

MRD Ltd are a non-profit taking company, limited by guarantee without share capital and no dividends payable. All directors work in a voluntary capacity and the company is secure and sustainable and has a bright future.

At the moment there are six directors - Gerry Murtagh (Chairman), Peter Collins, Kathleen Coleman, Seamus Shortt, Joe Dolan and John Bredin.

The board feels it is now time for an injection of ‘new blood’ as with new people come new ideas. The board are keen to have some fresh faces and minds around the table as they embark on a major expansion/refurbishment phase which it is hoped will culminate in the yard becoming weather independent, incorporating exciting new community meeting and performance spaces in the centre of the town.

It is planned to host an introduction session for potential new board members in November and prior to that there will be a open evening on Wednesday, October 24 from 5-8pm, with a brief address at 6pm where all in the community are invited to see the exciting new plans for the yard.

Since their formation MRD Ltd has made a lasting contribution to the community through a variety of significant projects, with the restoration of the Market Yard, which has provided the town with a heart, seen as the biggest achievement.
