Leitrim Ladies don’t have long to pick themselves up after the disappointment of last Sunday’s Connacht Semi-Final defeat as they are back in championship action next Sunday in the TG4 All-Ireland Intermediate Championship.

The Ladies make the long journey to Wicklow on Sunday for a 2pm throw-in against the Leinster side that were defeated by the Green & Gold in the Bord Gais League by 6-10 to 2-3. However, manager Niall Kilcrann will not take that result at face value as the Ladies also recorded a 3-12 to 1-9 victory over Sligo earlier in the campaign.

Leitrim have been drawn in a group that features Fermanagh and Limerick with the game against Fermanagh at home on July 14, and a trip to Limerick on July 28.

The Championship features a different format this year with two groups of four and one group of five and Leitrim would appear to have avoided a lot of the favourites for the title, although Fermanagh are a Division 2 side while Limerick contested the Division 4 Final.

Sligo have been handed a tough group with last year’s defeated All-Ireland finalists Cavan, Division 4 champions Longford and Division 2 side Tipperary in a group along with Roscommon. The other group appears equally tough with Waterford drawn with London, Down and Armagh.

The format will see the top team in each of the three groups qualifying directly for the semi-finals with the second placed teams in Group A and B playing off for the right to meet the second placed team from Group C, the winner oining the Group winners in the semi-finals on Saturday, September 1, with the final on Sunday, September 30.

If a playoff game is needed to decide second place in Group A or B, it will take place on Tuesday, August 14, with the playoff between the second placed teams the following Sunday.
