Neutral venue for Connacht Final

No matter who wins in McHale Park next Sunday, this year’s Connacht Final will be at a neutral venue with Leitrim having first choice of venue if they beat Mayo.

According to a 1997 agreement that states that any Connacht Final involving Leitrim or Sligo will be played at a neutral venue, Leitrim will have first choice between Hyde Park and McHale Park if the Green & Gold qualify.

If Mayo win, they will have first choice between Hyde Park or Pearse Stadium in Galway. Only grounds with a capacity in excess of 20,000 can be considered for the final.

Next Sunday will also see An Taoiseach Enda Kenny officially open the redeveloped Elvery’s McHale Park before the Leitrim and Mayo game in Castlebar.
