Mohill gained a small measure of revenge and retained their Dunnes Bar Division One League title when they defeated County Champions Aughawillan in a thrilling decider in Pairc Sean Mac Diarmada.

MOHILL 1-14 AUGHAWILLAN 3-6

Mohill, who had lost their Championship title at the hands of Aughawillan in the quarter-finals, were determined to hold onto the League crown they won last year and they looked on course for an easy win when they led by seven points early in the second half.

But two goals from Niall Beirne saw Aughawillan launched an unlikely and incredible fightback to rescue a draw with an injury time goal.

And it looked as if Aughawillan's legendary spirit would launch them to an unlikely triumph when Gary Plunkett found the net midway through the first half of added time.

But in an added twist, Mohill outdid Aughawillan when it comes to battling spirit and two points in the second period of extra-time gave them a deserved victory.
