Carrick Carnival is back with a bang this weekend!

They are back! After the success of last year’s Carrick Carnival 400, they have dropped the ‘400’ bit, but that’s about all.

The Carrick Carnival festival continues to be 10 days jam packed with fun and entertainment for all the family from this Friday May 30 to Sunday, June 8.

Welcome back the old reliables - The Barman’s Race, Phil the Fluter’s Fancy Dress Ball and the Fireworks Display (along with another fab water dance show)!

Add to this world class Street Shows, Pig Racing, top quality Live Music on the street, and the delectable Taste of Carrick, and there really is something for everyone!

Our Opening Parade is going to be bigger and bolder, and growing from this, we’ve added a ‘not to be missed’ Night Time Illuminated Spectacle on the closing Saturday night.

The committee wish to thank their sponsors and funders for making the festival possible, and ensuring it continues as a mainly FREE festival for everyone to enjoy.

The opening parade on Friday, May 30 at 7.30pm will include a samba band, brass band and a world of colour and theatre to officially launch the festival!

Murray’s Amusements will be open 2 - 8pm at Central Park (behind The Landmark Hotel).

The opening of the festival will also see the return of the Ball Race at 8pm down Main Street and Bar Man’s Race at 8.30pm with music throughout the town.

This Saturday May 31, Ernest the Magnifico will bring his Stunt Show to The Market Yard and Murtagh’s Courtyard from 2.30pm. Don’t miss the Human Horse Race from the Clock at 8pm -Giddy up and trot along to the funniest horse race in town!

On Sunday the Supercar Experience will drive into town with the The Aston Martin V8S available for experience drives at different prices.

At 11.30am join the Big Town Family Walk from the Council Offices in aid of the HOPE Foundation. Ernest the Magnifico will also be back in town to repeat his death defying show!

The huge Fireworks Display & Water Dance Show will commence at 11pm at Murrays Bay/The Quay. Also on Sunday night Phil the Fluters Fancy Dress Ball will be held in The Landmark Hotel Ballroom.

Next week will see a Town Treasure Hunt, Out Run the Hangman Race, Pig Racing, Hot Air Balloon Display, Taste of Carrick and much more. Details in next week’s paper.
