Liam Kelly, flautist with Dervish, launches his debut solo album 'Sweetwood' in The Glens Centre, Manorhamilton this Friday, July 24 at 8.30pm.
The album will be officially launched by master fiddle player Ben Lennon and this will be followed by some tunes played by Liam along with Michael Holmes on bouzouki and Donnnchadh Gough on bodhran. All are welcome and admission is free.

The album is named Sweetwood after the area in Leitrim where Liam Kelly's father hails from and is a culmination of thirty years of flute and whistle playing and of Liam's experiences in travelling the world, meeting people and playing music.

Liam cites Matt Molloy and Mary Bergin as major influences on his music: "When I was a young musician these were the leading names in flute and tin whistle music and they inspired me to continue playing at a time when I could just as easily have drifted away from music altogether."

Sweetwood also includes a lament written by Liam entitled 'Sweetwood' and a tune co-written with Dervish bouzouki player Michael Holmes, 'Bethnal Green,' which recalls their time in London.

Sweetwood is now available in shops and online at iTunes.
