48 Leitrim clubs and groups share €19,000 in funding

Funding will support coaching, equipment and volunteer development across the county
A total of 48 sports clubs and community organisations across County Leitrim have been awarded €19,000 under the 2026 Club Development and Volunteer Support Grant Scheme.
The scheme is administered by Leitrim Sports Partnership. According to the partnership, the funding was approved at a recent meeting of its committee and has been made possible through support from Sport Ireland and Dormant Accounts Funding.
The grants will support a range of initiatives, including coach and volunteer training, the purchase of sports equipment, and programmes aimed at encouraging participation among people of all ages and abilities.
Speaking following the announcement, Enda Lyons, Sports Co-Ordinator with Leitrim Sports Partnership, said: "We are delighted to support 48 clubs and community organisations through this funding scheme.
“Volunteers are the backbone of sport in Leitrim, and these grants will help clubs build capacity, improve skills, and provide more opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to participate in sport and physical activity across the county."
According to Leitrim Sports Partnership, this year's successful applications include clubs and organisations involved in volleyball, pickleball, horse riding, boxing, athletics, swimming, canoeing, table tennis, camogie and a range of other sports and activities.
Leitrim Sports Partnership said that the investment will support community sport by improving facilities, enhancing volunteer skills and creating additional opportunities for people to participate in physical activity and recreation.
Chairperson of Leitrim Sports Partnership, Mick O'Rourke, said: "The continued growth and success of community sport depends on the dedication of local volunteers and clubs.
