New rules take effect this weekend for GAA Inter-county action - GALLERY

This weekend marks the return of GAA inter-county action when the Allianz National Hurling Leagues get underway with some mouth watering clashes. But it is also the first chance fans will get to see the new playing rules passed at the GAA's Congress last February in action for themselves.

The GAA issued an update to the media with new sanctions for denying a goal scoring opportunity, the introduction of a ten minute sin bin and new rules for dealing with players suffering from head injuries.
