Tullaghan’s Wild Atlantic way hosted its first ever 5k Costal fun run/jog on Sunday morning, April 29 last.
The organisers would like to offer their thanks to everyone who turned out in glorious sunshine to take part in Leitrim’s coastal run.
Tullaghan Development Association held the event to raise funds to develop a seating area at the site of the famous Tullaghan Cross known locally as the “Cross Field”.
The huge turnout on Sunday shows that community spirit is alive in the village. Tullaghan's Wild Atlantic Way can boast of having Leitrim’s only coastline, in fact we have the shortest coastline in Europe with a view of the highest Sea cliffs in Europe.
All 31 children who took part received a Certificate of Achievement and 10 won cinema tickets in a draw. Adult raffle winners were, Catherine Regan, Gary Gallagher, Daniel Dowdican, Jean Doyle, Kathleen Ward, Karen Higgins and Jim McGovern.
Thanks to all who sponsored the run including Ballyshannon Boxing Club, Bundoran Surf Co., Cara Pharmacy, Surf ‘N’ Turf, The Anglers Rest Kinlough, Martin Mc Gowan and Shelia Brennan.
The organisers would also like to thank all the stewards who helped on the day. “We are hoping to make the run an annual event and look forward to welcoming ye all next year on Leitrim’s only Coastline. We are also hosting a Motorbike Run on Sunday, May 27 meeting at the community Centre, Tullaghan at 12 noon,” added a spokesperson for the Tullaghan Development Association.
