A TAXI has been seized for not following basic road safety measures.

Gardaí pulled over the taxi in Dublin 8 as it approached a checkpoint.

The taxi was a five-seater and had six total passengers.

Of the six, two were ‘small children’ and not wearing a seatbelt.

According to the Gardaí; ‘If you are over 17 you are legally responsible for wearing your seatbelt in a vehicle whether you are a driver or a passenger. Responsibility lies with the driver to ensure that all passengers under the age of 17 wear a seat belt or have a proper child restraint.’

The car has been seized and court will follow.
