‘Le Harve’ screening
at Carrick Cineplex
Carrick Film Society is showing ‘Le Havre’ on Thursday, October 25, in Carrick Cineplex.
The multi-award-winning Finnish director, Aki Kaurismaki, has come to France for his latest film.
In this warm- hearted portrait of the French harbour city, fate throws young African refugee Idrissa into the path of Marcel Marx, a well- spoken bohemian who works as a shoe shiner.
With innate optimism and the unwavering support of his community, Marcel stands up to officials doggedly pursuing the boy for deportation.
This is a seductively funny, warm-hearted and offbeat film with a heartfelt urgency, exploring northern European attitudes to desperate refugees from the developing world.
All films are shown at Carrick Cineplex on Thursdays at 8.30pm. Everyone welcome. For further information, call: 086 3856 776.
