Our celebrations will take place over the August Bank Holiday weekend with a host of free events honouring our long and rich club history and the theme of the Gathering.
Friday 2nd will see us going back in time to the 1930s with open air music and the theme “Dancing at the Crossroads” with John McCartin and special guests at 8.30pm. We will also have a very special showing of our local Scor talent. This will be a very special night, not to be missed.
Saturday 3rd, the Sean Leyden Blitz will take place at 10.30am, which will involve U12 teams from Fenagh, Kinlough, Aughavas, Garadice, Leitrim Gaels and Kinawley. A Ladies tournament will follow at 2.30pm. Another free open air concert starts at 9pm with our own Brian McGaughy performing. There will be special presentations on this night to honour all club members in recognition of outstanding achievements in Gaelic Football, Handball and Scor.
Open Air Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Tommy Greenan in the Abbey on Sunday morning at 12.30pm. The Handball Alley will be officially opened with an exhibition game as All Ireland Champions Robbie McCarthy from Westmeath and Cavan’s Michael Finnegan take on Mayo’s Joe McCann and Dessie Keegan.
On Sunday afternoon from 5pm we host our 125 barbecue and a family fun day. Local schools will be represented in Tug of War. On stage that night will be the dancing fiddle player Dermot O’Connell and his band.
