The Ballinamore Easter Spraoi, is back for a second year. This year’s Spraoi will be during Easter weekend Saturday 30th, Sunday 31st March and Monday 1st April and most events are free to the public. It will be a fun-filled weekend with events and music for all the family.
On Saturday, start the day with a Family Fun Walk along Waterways Canal Bank Walk at 11am. Other events for children include Water Sports and Canoe Skills at the Canal Basin at 2pm and School Around the Corner at the Courthouse at 4pm. The Boxty Eating Challenge is returning due to popular demand and will also be held at the Courthouse at 6pm. Solas Art Gallery are holding an exhibition from 10am - 6pm called ‘Four’, showing the work of four emerging artists; Stephen Costello, Isabella Bozzanni, Molly Richardson and Jim Ricard.
For those up early on Sunday, meet at the Courthouse at 10am for a Fun Cycle for adults and children. The Easter Egg Street Hunt will follow and is sure to keep the kids happy. Sunday’s main event is the Soap Box Rally which will be held along High Street and Main Street at 3.30pm. The rules for the race are available to download from www.ballinamore.ie. The race is open to junior and senior categories and there will be prizes on the day for the fastest time and the best design. There will be facepainting for kids and DJ Wrynne for entertainment. The Ballinamore Scouts are holding a Raft Challenge at the Canal Basin at 5pm, so get building now! Those with an adventurous side can put themselves to the test by Walking the Plank at the Canal Basin following the Raft Challenge.
For kids only on the Monday we have a Scavenger Hunt along Waterways Canal Bank Walk at 11am and the Easter Bunny Disco with magician at the Commercial Hotel at 4.30pm. Adults will be more interested in the free Vintage Car and Tractor Display along the main street with live music at 2pm. At 3pm there will be free Canal Boat Trips from Locaboat Marina. Following this, you can test your skills at the Slow Bicycle Race and Street Show Jumping (no horses allowed) on Main Street.
