It is always nice to get a different perspective on artists and their work. The new Exhibition at the Solas Gallery in Ballinamore, “Synchronicity – 2 Generations”, does that.
Opening this Friday, June 7 is a joint solo by Mother, Grace Dixon and Daughter, Jennifer Richardson.
Both talented within their own media, Jennifer as a photographer and Grace as an artist in oils.
Grace has many times worked from and been inspired by her daughters photographs.
To paraphrase “not only did this synchronisation of photography and art come about as an unplanned meaningful event but as mother and daughter living a distance apart their healing and growth into the artistic world evolved unknownst to them over the last 6 years leading to a mutual connectedness of shared passions.”
Jennifer has had a love affair with her camera since childhood which has evolved over the past few years into a part time photographic business.
Jennifer will have approx 25 images, both portraiture and natural images, woodland scenes, sunsets, flowers, and if one is allowed favourites, a bridge and its reflection, so peaceful.
Grace will also have about 25 paintings, including 2 based on her daughters photographs.
She has had a natural affinity to art since her childhood.
After rearing her own four children, Grace had the freedom to learn about and explore her talent.
Specialising in painting with oils on canvas, Grace is deeply inspired by the beauty of nature that surrounds her, from her own garden to the majestic landscapes of Co. Leitrim.
The Exhibitions will be opened by Moya Carroll, Team Leader of Specialist Palliative Care Cavan/Monaghan and an active member of the Ballyconnell Drama Group.
The opening will take place at 7.30pm this Friday upstairs in the Solas Gallery above the Four Seasons Garden Centre.
The exhibition will continue until June 29. Jennifer will also be holding a workshop on camera use on Saturday, June 15 2-5pm - booking essential. Call 071 9644210, email firstname.lastname@example.org, visit www.solasart.ie or become a friend on facebook.
