This Friday, July 17 the ART WALL at The Leitrim Design House brings you a stunning series of work from a Leitrim based photographer, Gearoid Lynch with his new collection titled ‘Let it rain softly’.
Gearóid will be exhibiting a number of Images from his extensive Leitrim Collection and forthcoming book ‘Be Still In Leitrim’.
The artist has specifically selected each piece with the theme of water in mind to coincide with the Carrick-on -Shannon Water Music Festival.
Gearóid is a native of Drumshanbo, he studied Black/White Film Photography in San Francisco, California. On returning to Ireland In 2007 he started to work with digital, colour photography.
In 2008, after visiting the West Bank on a number of occasions, Gearóid held his first solo Irish exhibition in the Teacher’s Club Dublin, ‘Unlocking Palestine’ depicting the nature and atmosphere of life for the Palestinian people living under Israeli military occupation.
Gearóid is currently working on a book and exhibition, ‘Be Still In Leitrim’ exploring the symbiotic relationship between our own spirituality and the land upon which we live.
At present he is also involved in contributing to a human rights consortium project, ’Extreme Energy Initiative’ at the University of London. To date Gearoid received numerous awards for both his environmental and documentary work. For more info see www.gearoidlynch.com
The Leitrim Design House will be launching this collection this Friday at 7.30pm and it will continue to be on view until September 9th. On the same evening in The Dock there will be music by Luca Ciarla –‘Fiddler in the loop recital’ which will be on stage at 8.30pm. So come along for a very enjoyable evening of art and music.
