The opening concert of The Festival takes place tonight, at 8.30pm in The Dock with The Young Folk take to the stage. It’s no surprise that this young group has such talent since songwriter and guitarist Anthony Furey is the son and nephew of members of the legendary Fureys. Tickets are €15/€13. There will also be an art exhibition opening in Silver River Studios on Bridge Street at 6.30pm where artist Peter Fulop opens his new exhibition ‘Gate: The Tales of Nowhere Land’.


At 1pm Russian harpist Ramona Sakalauskaite and guest singer Mabel Chah from Cameroon present a lunchtime concert of harp and singing in St. Georges Church, tickets are €7. In The Bush Hotel at 8.30pm new Irish group Emerald Storm for an exciting Celtic-style show complete with musicians and dancers, tickets are €10.


The Dock hosts The Leading Edge traditional music workshops and professional development programme with Declan Drohan Eleanor Shanley, Keith Conroy, Caitlin Nic Gabhann, Ciaran O’Maonaigh and Stuart Ongley. Starting at 11am on Friday, and continuing throughout the day is a Free Town Music Trail, involving musical performances of various genres in venues across the town, with something to suit all tastes.

Gearoid Lynch’s ‘Let the Rain Fall’ Art Wall Photography Exhibition opens at 7.30pm in Leitrim Design House.

One of the Festival highlights, Fiddler in the Loop - a contemporary loop violin recital by renowned Italian musician Luca Ciarla takes place in The Dock at 8.30pm on Friday night (€14/€12).


Again a host of The Leading Edge workshops take place in The Dock throughout the day. For the outdoor enthusiasts - see beautiful county Leitrim as never before on a SUP paddling Historical SUP Tour of the Shannon Blueway, starting at Emerald Star Slipway 11am, €35 for 2.5 hrs and all equipment is provided.

The Original Guinness Jazz Band take to the River Shannon with a jazz cruise boarding Moon River at 11.45am - what better way to start a leisurely summer’s day in Carrick! Tickets €18.

There will be Free Family Street Entertainment taking place from 2-4pm in The Market Yard with a singing ‘Elsa’ from Frozen, balloons, magic tricks, games and more.

At 3pm, author Julian Vignoles will be speaking in The Bush Hotel about David Thomson and the Woodbrook Heritage (tickets €5).

The Landmark Hotel hosts this year’s Gala event, a musical supper called Feasting with Figaro and Friends, with Musical performances brought to you by the esteemed Drawing Room Opera Company. Starting at 7.30pm, tickets are €47 and includes drinks reception, 3 course buffet supper and entertainment.


The final day commences at midday on Moon River with The Tolka Hot Club jazz cruise. This group bring a body of music from the Roaring 20’s and 30’s, hypnotic gypsy jazz and a few modern surprises! Tickets €16.

Showcasing the best of local musical talent, the Rising Stars Recital in The Bush Hotel at 3pm promises an exciting afternoon of music from up-and-coming musicians. Tickets are €8/€5 children U12, Family/4 €20.

Fans of Big Band tunes, jazz, soul and blues will love the closing concert of this year’s Carrick Water Music Festival, Ciaran Wilde’s The Little Big Band featuring special guest singer Keith McDonald in The Landmark Hotel at 8pm.
