Carrigallen’s David Rawle, star of Moone Boy will join Chris O’Dowd and other members of the cast for a special premiere screening of Moone Boy in Boyle this Saturday, August 11.
Sky1 HD is hosting the special two series screening in Lough Key Forest Park as part of a family fun day with games, activities and picnics.
The 500 FREE tickets for Sky, distributed through Una Bhan, Boyle went within hours of the announcement last week.
There were queues down the street for the golden ticket, to see Boyle, local extras and Chris O’Dowd in his proudest moment. O’Dowd told SKY that the premiere in his home town will be “the proudest moment of my working life.”
“Watching people watching themselves depicted on the big screen fills me with equal measures of joy and fear. I’ll be wearing runners in case things get ugly,” he stated.
Lucy Lumsden, Head of Comedy at SKY said “What better place to launch Moone Boy than in Chris’ home town of Boyle. We’ve fallen in love with this series and hope the audience will do too.”
Screening is expected to start at 4pm, but members of the cast including our own David Rawle will be meeting with the media from 2pm. Chris’ fiancé Dawn Porter who he is due to marry on August 23 is also expected to attend.
The lucky 500 locals will get to see the first two episodes of the Boyle based comedy before it airs on Sky in September.
The special premiere is hoped to shed more light on the town of Boyle and help tourism numbers towards the end of the year.
