Kiltyclogher is the place to be this weekend, August 10 -12 on when they celebrate Michael Shanley through the medium of music and dancing.
This Friday, August 10 the much acclaimed Annmarie O’Riordan and her band will showcase their talent in the Grand Opening Concert. Annmarie follows the long line of noted celebrities who have performed at this festival over the past twenty years. Annmarie is accompanied with her band of four renowned accomplished musicians – Eamonn O’Riordan, Gearoid O’Duinn, Tony O’Connell and Brian McGrath.
Éamonn O’Riordan has won numerous all Ireland titles over the years on both flute and whistle. Brian Mc Grath comes from Brookeborough, Co Fermanagh, Brian plays with De Dannan and with the Band At The Racket, and is a very much sought after session musician on piano, banjo and mandolin. Gearóid Ó Duinnín from Cúil-Áodha, Co. Cork is a musician and noted visual artist. For the last twenty years he has played with some of Ireland’s finest traditional musicians including flautist Conal Ó Gráda, Finbarr Dwyer, Dermot Byrne, a veritable feast of West Limerick musicians and fiddle master Paddy Cronin.
Tony O’Connell hails from Glin in West Limerick plays the tin whistle, button accordion and concertina, Tony released his debut album with Leitrim fiddle player Andy Morrow and Arty Mc Glynn. This album reached number two in the charts and achieved great reviews. The number one top spot went to “Within a mile of Kilty”, which featured our local renowned brothers, Ben and Charlie Lennon and the late John Gordon.
