The Annual Carol Service in St. Patrick’s Church, Drumshanbo is on Sunday December 15 at 8pm.
This is the 22nd Christmas Carol Service, and it is set to be as entertaining and heartening as always. The Adult, Children and Folk Choirs under the direction of Orla Daly, Ita Devine and Michael McKenna, are joining forces to present ‘Memories of Christmas’. Máirin O’ Keefe will provide the accompaniment. You will hear the traditional carols such as Silent Night, Once in Royal David’s City, Come to the Manger, O Come all ye Faithful and O Holy Night. The choirs will also present a short musical, embracing Christmas Memories. They will be joined by Peggy Lynch, a local writer, who is going to share her thoughts and memories of Christmas in Drumshanbo and all over the world.
The choirs have always performed the Carol Service for a charity. With such demands on voluntary and charitable organisations nowadays it was really hard to choose one charity, so the proceeds of the night this year are going to St. Vincent De Paul, Drumshanbo, Leitrim Calling Service, Drumshanbo and St. Ciaran’s Respite Services, Carrick-on-Shannon. Your support will be greatly appreciated. Admission on the night is: Adults €10, Children €5, Family €20.
You can also donate through Drumshanbo Credit Union (071 9641727) and make a contribution to the Carol Service. Any small amount will make an enormous difference to the charities involved.
Those attending are asked to come early.
