This Friday, February 6 the ART WALL will introduce some more local creative talent at The Leitrim Design House, this time showcasing a selection of work from well-known Leitrim based artist Colleen Quinn. Colleen is a founding member of Solas Art Gallery in Ballinamore. Originally from Chicago, for many years she has been working out of her studio in Aughawillan.
Colleen’s body of work, titled ‘As I see it’ explores a variety of subjects using charcoal and pastel. She describes her approach to her work “Ever since I was a child I have been fascinated by the traditional understanding of relationships. Painting for me is about expressing a feeling or emotion through visual means. When I see something that moves me, I work to break it down to find the essence of what it is visually that makes the scene or person so appealing. The most effective education for me comes from observing life “ as I see it”…. My work is also strongly informed by my love of nature, rural life and all things natural. Ultimately I hope my work emotes, moves and uplifts.”
This exhibition will launch on Friday 6th February at 7pm and runs until March 11th. Come along for a glass of wine, meet Colleen and immerse yourself in this beautiful body of work. This event complements other activities happening in the building that evening as The Dock are launching their next visual art exhibition from 6pm and also Phronesis jazz trio will performing at 8.30pm the same evening. So come along early and enjoy three great events!
