Incase you have not heard Cavan Town are holding their third All Ireland Fleadh Cheoil from August 10 to 20.

As part of the week long celebration of Irish traditional music, song and dance, Leitrim’s own big acts are preparing to show their talents on this huge audience stage.

Our own Eleanor Shanley is hosting ‘Eleanor Shanley and Friends’ in the Liberty Insurance Dome on August 14. The friends on the night are De Danann, Sean Keane and his band, Folk the Recession (Mick Hanly, Paul Kelly, Frankie Lane, Seamus Begley and myself), Kavan Donohoe (harp/pipes), Leitrim’s Michael Harding and our much loved Edwina Guckian and the Mc Dermott sisters.

August 14 will be a night not be missed at the Cavan Fleadh - all of the above acts provide a great night’s entertainment in a solo capacity, so bringing them together will certainly lift the roof off the dome!

The legendary have achieved chart success with several albums, they have recorded Irish traditional verions of many popular songs and they have been the cornerstone of Irish music for over two decades.

Drumsna’s Edwina Guckian is an award winning Sean Nos dancer who is well known from TV appearance and teaching her skills to children all over the region.

Special guest Michael Harding now living in the county will also appear at the concert. Harding has worked as an actor, director and writer.

Sean Keane and his band will be a treat for anyone who has not heard them perform before, they have sold out to audiences all over Ireland. Folk the Recession have made a big name of themselves since the start of the recession!

They provide a lively mix of music, story and song from some of Irelands top folk acts. With a wonderful selection of songs by composers such as Marty Robins, Tom Paxton, Joni Mitchell, Mick Hanly and Stephen Foster, combined with their own arrangements of great traditional tunes it is a feast of folk music. 20 year old Kavan Donohoe will bring his skills on the harp to the dome as well as the Uillean pipes, Tin Whistle, Low Whistle and Guitar. Cian Finn is a lead vocalist with Ireland’s Reggae band Intinn - his voice has been heard at festivals all over the island and across Europe.
