The voice of the GAA over many decades, Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh, will host the Glenfarne Strictly Come Dancing – Rainbow Style gala show on Saturday, 2nd May.
A second show will take place on Sunday, 3rd May which will be hosted by well known Donegal man and showbiz guru, Noel Cunningham.
‘We are delighted to get such great MCs for the two nights that will bring their own flair and style. It will be great craic; you’ll see people dancing who’ve never set foot on a dance floor before never mind perform in front of an audience but sure the infamous ‘magic bounce’ of the Rainbow floor will help them along!’, said Linda Slevin of the organising group.
Classes are in full swing at the Rainbow where 28 dancers from surrounding areas are practising their salsa and jiving in preparation for the shows. Photos of what they are getting up to are being posted regularly on Facebook at ‘Glenfarne Strictly Come Dancing’
The shows starting at 8.30pm on Saturday and Sunday nights will be the same, the only difference will be the MC and there will also be different winners. The organising committee emphasise it’s not about competing but more about creating a community spirit and raising funds.
The funds will go to St. Michael’s School, Glenfarne/Kiltyclogher GAA and the Rainbow Fund. Raffles will take place but there will be no other fundraising.
The organising committee are very grateful to local businesses that are contributing sponsorship.
Tickets cost €15 and are available from Bredin’s Newsagents and MacManus Pharmacy, Manorhamilton; McGoldrick’s, Dromahair; Clancy’s, Glenfarne; McGrisken’s, Kiltyclogher; Belcoo Pharmacy and Blacklion Post Office.
