Carrick Film Society is showing ‘Once upon a Time in Anatolia’ on Thursday, November 1, in Carrick Cineplex.
Directed by Nuri Bilge Ceylan, this latest film from the Turkish master follows a group of men as they search for a body in remote sections of the Anatolian steppes. The body is the victim of a murder to which a suspect named Kenan and his mentally- challenged brother confessed. However, the search is proving more difficult than expected as Kenan is confused as to the body’s exact location.
The film - based on a true experience - requires psychological investment but the dividends are considerable. The film eventually comes together in a subtle powerful denouement.
All films are shown at Carrick Cineplex on Thursdays at 8.30pm. Everyone welcome.
