Leitrim residents are being urged to remain vigilant and to contact Gardaí with any relevant information following a significant theft in the county.
A text alert from An Garda Síochána has been circulated in response to the recent theft of a garage in South Leitrim.
The alert read, “Any suspicious activity observed in the Ballinamore area in the last number of days to be reported to Carrick On Shannon Gardaí.
“Extra care and safety measures to be exercised when storing tools and machinery.”
This warning was issued to residents living in the Ballinamore, Drumshanbo, Aughnashellin, Keshcarrigan, and Fenagh areas, urging them to stay alert and take precautions to secure valuable items.

The alert follows the theft of tens of thousands of euro worth of equipment from a yard in Edentenny, Ballinamore, during the early hours of the morning on Tuesday, July 15.
In a statement, Gardaí confirmed they are currently investigating the theft from the Ballinamore property which occurred between 12:10am and 6:20am on Tuesday, July 15.
The stolen items included a 2016 white Renault Master van, a quad trailer holding a ride-on powerfloat, a motorbike, a concrete drill, a chainsaw, a manual powerfloat, a cement mixer and a power washer.
Anyone who may have witnessed unusual activity or has any information that could assist with the investigation is asked to contact the 24 hour Garda Station in Carrick-on-Shannon by calling 071 96 50510.
