Diseases of the circulatory system include heart attacks and strokes were highest in Ballinamore, Leitrim, it has been revealed after recent figures released by Central Statistics Office (CSO) .

Diseases of the circulatory system include heart attacks and strokes were highest in Ballinamore, Leitrim, it has been revealed after the Central Statistics Office (CSO) released the figures for Births and Deaths at Local Electoral Areas (LEA) 2022 this week.

The CSO published the figures, providing a snapshot of how a region's population is evolving.

The new report focuses on births and deaths in 2022 and does not take account of inward or outward migration.

The CSO revealed that Neoplasms and Disease of the Circulatory System accounted for more than half (56.7%) of deaths across Ireland in 2022.

They explained that neoplasm deaths can be benign or malignant (cancerous) with the highest LEAs Tralee in Kerry, Swinford, Co Kerry and Rosecrea-Templemore in Tipperary.
