223 people in Leitrim are in receipt of home support through agency workers
There are 223 Leitrim people are being cared for by homecare agency workers in Leitrim it was revealed at a recent meeting.
HSE West and North-West provides health and social care to Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, areas in the west of Cavan, Mayo, Roscommon and Sligo.
The figures were highlighted after a question from Cllr Felim Gurn, on the topic, to the Regional Health Forum West and North West last month.
John Fitzmaurice, Integrated Health Area Manager, Sligo, Leitrim, West Cavan, South Donegal said in his response that in terms of the Older Persons Services, "In 2025, there were 223 clients in County Leitrim in receipt of Home Support, which was either fully delivered by an agency, or delivered on a shared basis between agency staff and HSE employed Healthcare Assistants (Home Support)."

In terms of the Disability Services he said that in 2025, there were 76 clients in County Leitrim in receipt of Home Support via agency workers. Disability Services, following assessment and identification of an individual’s need for home support, deliver Home Support services via contractual Service Arrangements with Home Support agencies.
