Twenty former Aughawillan footballers complete 150km fundraising cycle

Twenty former Aughawillan footballers completed a 150km cycle to raise funds for the club on Saturday when, along with a support crew, they made their way from Castleknock back home to Aughawillan.

The group departed Castleknock at 9am on Saturday morning last before passing through Navan, Kells, Virgina, Cavan and Killeshandra.

Throughout the day club officials kept supporters updated on the progress being made by the cyclists with regular updates posted on the club's Facebook page.

The weather proved favourable for the 150km cycle and as the group rolled closer to home, the excitement was clear from the updates being provided, with plenty of supporters on the road to welcome the group as they passed through various towns.

By the time the group reached Crossdoney, there were clear smiles breaking through as everyone involved could begin to see the end nearing.

Having made their way through Ballinamore the group completed the journey, arriving back in Aughawillan shortly after 5pm.

Congratulations to everyone who took part and don't forget, it is not too late to make a contribution to this very wothwhile fundraising effort.
