Leitrim Dance Festival continues this week

Piper Joey Abarta & dancer Jackie O Riley from Boston lead the Easter Monday dance class on the steps of the Dock for Leitrim Dance Festival.

The 2023 Leitrim Dance Project which started on Easter Sunday continues until Friday, April 14 with the usual blend of dance performances, workshops, masterclasses, music recitals, and talks.


Dance classes and workshops will continue in The Dock each day until Friday. Tomorrow, Wednesday April 12, check out the Meitheal at the Market Yard in Carrick-on-Shannon from 2-4pm.


This event is for the wider public to participate in. All are invited to join in, all ages, nationalities, locals and visitors.
Then at 9pm tonight Cryan's Teach Ceoil Dance Session will include Cathy Jordan, Martin Brundsen, Dave Munnelly, Rick Epping and Seamie ODowd.


On Thursday 13 the Meitheal at the Market will start at the earlier time of 10am and continue to 12 noon with Jackie O'Riley, Joey Abarta, Jack Lynch, Ryan Owens, Becky Ní Ealaithe and Áirc Damhsa as well as live performances at the Organic Farmers’ Market by visiting and local artists at Leitrim Dance Festival.


On Thursday at 7.30pm The Dock will host a Dance Dialects Concert featuring new work by Becky Ní Éallaithe & Cathal Ó Curráin, Jackie O'Riley & Joey Abarta and Áirc Damhsa along with dance masters Siobhán Butler & Steve Cooney, Jonathan McCloy & Conal Ó Gráda, Edwina Guckian & Cathy Jordan, Sibéal Davitt & Liam O Connor.


Cryan's Teach Ceoil will host another free event at 9pm on Thursday night with Cathal Ó Curráin, Dave Munnelly, Brian Duke and John Carty. The festival closes on Friday, April 14 with dance classes in The Dock.
