Meetings adjourned as mark of respect to late Cllr Guckian

As a mark of respect to the late Cllr Des Guckian, it was decided that the Leitrim's County Council's AGM and the Carrick-on-Shannon municipal meeting would be adjourned until next week.
Speaking at the meeting, chairperson Cllr Sean McGowan proposed that both meetings would be adjourned and was seconded by Cllr Enda Stenson with all members in agreement.

“We agreed to adjourn the meetings as a mark of respect to our former colleague who had passed away since our last meeting.
“I want to offer our sympathies to his daughter Irene, who has joined us and to the rest of the family."
At a meeting of Ballinamore Municipal District on Monday, May 26, members stood for a minute's silence in honour of their late colleague.

The former Independent councillor's funeral took place at St Mary’s Church in Annaduff on Monday, May 26.
Mr Guckian represented the Carrick-on-Shannon Municipal District for over a decade, being first elected to Leitrim County Council in 2014.
