Castlecara road
Line marking is scheduled to be reinstated on Castlecara Road once the contractor hired by Leitrim County Council returns, though no timeframe has been provided.
At a meeting of the Carrick-on-Shannon Municipal District, Cllr Paddy Farrell raised concerns regarding the new speed ramps on Castlecara Road, noting that while the ramps have been welcomed by many, issues remain.
The speed ramps had long been a source of contention due to their excessive height, which caused damage to vehicles.
Although the ramps have since been modified, Cllr Farrell pointed out that there have been “a lot of complaints” about inadequate signage and the lack of completed line marking.
“There are still a lot of complaints about the very poor signage and markings in the location and vehicles driving over the ramps at speed,” Cllr Farrell’s motion stated.
A response confirmed that line marking will be completed once the contractor returns to the region. It also stated that the signage complies with regulations and that the ramps are located under “ample public lighting.”
