Drivers advised of days-long road works scheduled in Leitrim this week

Road works in Carrick-on-Shannon will run from 7pm tonight, Monday, December 1, until 3am, and will continue on Tuesday, December 2 with additional road works planned across the county this week.

Drivers advised of days-long road works scheduled in Leitrim this week

Motorists are being advised of scheduled road works taking place in the county town tonight. Leitrim County Council has announced on social media that contractors, working on behalf of the Council, will be carrying out road resurfacing works on a section of the R-280-1 Old Dublin Road in Carrick-on-Shannon overnight.

The works will take place from 7pm tonight, Monday, December 1, running until 3am, and will resume again the following day, Tuesday, December 2, from 6:30pm until 3am.

Temporary traffic management controls will be in operation, and local access will be maintained throughout the works.

“Leitrim County Council apologise for the inconvenience caused,” said a statement on Facebook.

Further road works are also scheduled to take place in Leitrim this week. On Wednesday, December 3, the Dowra Road (R207-6) and Convent Avenue (L-3306) in Drumshanbo will be closed for road resurfacing works.

These works will be carried out by contractors acting on behalf of the Council over a three-day period, continuing until Friday, December 5. 

Work will take place each day from 8am until 6pm.

Diversions will be in place, and local access will remain open. “Leitrim County Council regrets any inconvenience these essential works may cause and appreciates the cooperation of all road users.”
