Conditional planning permission has been granted for the construction of a tourist hostel in Carrick-on-Shannon.

The proposal, submitted by Goldpine Partnership, comprises a 72-room tourist hostel with a variety of room types.  The first and second floors will contain guest accommodation, including double, family, accessible, and shared dormitory-style rooms, designed to accommodate up to 244 guests.

The ground floor is proposed to accommodate a café and retail units. It will include the hostel reception, café, staff facilities, administration office, linen store, toilets, service areas including bin and bike storage, and three retail units totalling 507 m², with maintained pedestrian access to Bridge Street via a ground-level right of way.

The development is set to be located on Flynn’s Field, Townparks, in Carrick-on-Shannon.

Provision is made for five staff parking spaces to the rear.

The total gross floor area of the proposed development is 3,522 m², comprising 3,015 m² allocated to hostel use and 507 m² for retail use.

The application was submitted in July 2025 and has been approved by Leitrim County Council with 24 conditions.
