Leitrim man named one of the top hotel managers in North America

A Carrick-on-Shannon native has been named as one of the top 40 hotel managers in North America. 

Leitrim man Brian Murtagh is director of operations at Stay Ridgeline.

Murtagh oversees the daily operations of six boutique hotels and several restaurants across Western North Carolina and North Georgia, Hotel Management's 2026 Forty over 40 special report noted recently. 

His role spans everything from financial performance and leadership development to brand consistency and guest experience. Murtagh joined Ridgeline during a pivotal period of rapid growth, when the company was expanding its portfolio and defining its identity as a collection of independent mountain hotels. 

Rather than allowing that growth to dilute the Ridgeline experience, Murtagh strengthened it. Through his hands-on leadership, clear communication and commitment to genuine hospitality, he’s ensured that each property maintains its own character while upholding the same Ridgeline standards.
