Pictures taken of the Shannon roundabout in Carrick-on-Shannon show severe damage to signage and flower beds caused by a vehicle impact in the early hours of Sunday morning.
There are visible car tracks across the roundabout and the vehicle appears to have eventually stopped some distance away.
The roundabout is at the junction of the Old Dublin Road and the N4 bypass close to Shannon Lodge and Scoil Mhuire.
The crash is believed to have taken place at approximately 2.30am on Sunday morning.
It is believed that Gardai were very quickly on the scene.
