Extension of Ukraine appeal in Carrick due to urgent need

Help wanted for those affected in Ukraine

The local community throughout Leitrim and North Roscommon have been amazing in response to the appeal to help those affected by the war in Ukraine.

Mary Glancy, appeal organiser in Carrick-on-Shannon told the Leitrim Observer "Thank you to to everyone for your support, to the people who donated continuously since last Wednesday, to the road hauliers who have rallied to our aid, to the brilliant volunteers who have manned the unit, taking in the supplies, checking, bagging and getting all ready for onward transportation.

"To all the shops, schools, clubs and communities who organised their own collections and brought it to us, thank you so much.

"A big thank you to Synergy Cafe for the endless supply of teas, coffees and cakes for the volunteers.

"We are opening the unit again from this Thursday for further donations which are so urgently needed. Times will be the same 12-2 and 5-7pm.

"Please check the attached poster for a list of what is required. We regret we cannot accept adult clothes or duvets at this time.

"Please do not leave anything outside the unit if it is closed, as goods could be destroyed from rain and wind.

"Strong empty boxes from shops are needed for packing.

"Once again thank you for your donations."
