RTÉ Nationwide will showcase the town’s 2025 Tidy Towns success, President Catherine Connolly’s visit and the projects behind the winning year.

Carrick-on-Shannon Tidy Towns will be showcased on RTÉ Nationwide tomorrow, Wednesday, September 2.

The episode will feature the very special day on July 31 when President Catherine Connolly visited the town and unveiled a commemorative plaque celebrating Carrick-on-Shannon Tidy Towns’ remarkable wins in 2025, when they were named both Ireland’s Tidiest Town and Ireland’s Tidiest Small Town.

Presenter Richard Downes will take viewers through the celebrations that took place on the day, while reporter Tommy Stenson meets with some of the volunteers on the Tidy Towns committee to hear about the projects and work that took place and helped make the wins possible.

An overall tour of the town with Richard will also feature in the episode, as he visits St George’s Heritage Centre and the Costello Memorial Chapel, the smallest chapel in Europe.

The episode will air on Wednesday, September 2 at 7pm on RTÉ One and will also be available to watch on RTÉ Player.
