Leitrim man Conor Lanigan, 19, has completed a record-breaking swim of the River Shannon, covering more than 230km over seven days from Dowra to Limerick.
The Carrick-on-Shannon swimmer finished his epic challenge in Limerick on August 28, breaking the record for the fastest swim of the Shannon.
He has also raised more than €12,000 for the Irish Cancer Society, surpassing his original fundraising target by over €7,000. Conor, who trained for months ahead of the challenge, was supported throughout by his family and friends, with his parents Helen and Barry among his dedicated support crew.
A full interview with Conor will be available in Wednesday’s Leitrim Observer. Conor’s fundraiser for the Irish Cancer Society is still available to donate here.
