Main Street, Carrigallen
Planning permission has been sought for a new residential development in Carrigallen. The application, submitted to Leitrim County Council on April 12,proposes the construction of two apartments and the renovation of a derelict two-storey building, delivering a total of three residential units to the village.
The development is proposed for a site to the rear of Kilbracken House on Main Street, a protected structure of historical significance.
As part of the proposal, the existing derelict two-storey house would undergo significant renovation, including the replacement of its roof, the raising of the wall plate level, and the construction of a new roof structure.
In addition, the application includes the demolition of existing outbuildings and sheds to make way for a new two-storey building comprising two one-bedroom apartments - one on the ground floor and another on the first floor. A single-storey storage is also proposed to support the development.

The project would connect to existing public infrastructure, including foul sewer, surface water drainage and the watermain, with all associated site development works included in the application.
A decision on the application is expected from Leitrim County Council by July 6 of this year.
