Fenagh school children show real festive spirit by getting behind the Shoebox Christmas Appeal

The children from St. Caillin’s N. S. Fenagh with their boxes

Over the last few weeks, the children in St. Caillin’s N.S. Fenagh were busy collecting items to support the Team Hope Shoe Box Appeal. They managed to fill over 70 boxes for delivery to street children, orphans, children in hospital, poor families, victims of war or other needy situations in many different countries.

The response from the children, parents, and teachers was tremendous. Well done to all concerned.  The boxes included a wide range of items but had to include items children use to write with such as pens, colouring books, pencils, and paper, something to wash with, e.g. various hygiene items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, facecloths, hairbrushes. All boxes included small clothing items like scarves, gloves, underwear, socks.  Most important of all at this time of the year, boxes included a treat or something to wow the receiver of the box. So games, toys, sweets, yo-yo’s, dolls, footballs and other fantastic gifts were included.

The gift boxes will be delivered to the needy children and should make such a difference to their Christmas. So well done indeed to Fenagh N.S. and the wider Fenagh community for their generous support of this initiative. The true spirit of Christmas is alive and well in Fenagh.
