Tributes have flooded in following the passing of Elizabeth (Lizzy) Guihen née Kelly, of Cara Court, Carrick on Shannon, Co. Leitrim.

Elizabeth ‘Lizzy’ Guihen, formerly of Cara Court, Carrick on Shannon, Co Leitrim and late of St Patrick’s Park, passed away on Saturday, February 1 in the loving care of the staff at North West Hospice, Sligo University Hospital and St. Patrick’s Hospital, Carrick on Shannon, Co Leitrim.

Lizzy is predeceased by her son Eddie, sister Margaret and brother Tommy.

She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Dylan and Megan, extended family, neighbours and friends, according to her death notice.

On the condolences section on RIP.ie, one person wrote: "Sincerest sympathies to the grandchildren Dylan and Megan, relatives and friends of Lizzy. Lizzy adored her grandkids and spoilt them at every chance. 

“Lizzy you were a great friend and neighbour to my mother and me. You were a true warrior with everything life gave you but you kept fighting on until the end. May you rest in peace and now you are reunited with Eddie, Margaret and Tommy.”

Another friend wrote: “Sincere sympathy to all Elizabeth's friends and relations. I have known Lizzy and the late Eddy for the last 30 years and many the great laugh we had. She was a real character. Rest in peace Lizzy.”

A third tribute read: “Deepest sympathy to the grandchildren and relatives of Lizzie on her sad passing, so soon after her brother Tommy and son Edward. Lizzie was one of Carrick's true characters, always a friendly word and great wit. May her gentle soul Rest in Peace.”
