RIP: Tributes paid in Leitrim following sudden death of 'inspirational teacher'
Tributes have poured in following the sad and sudden death of James McDowell, late of Tullynaha, Ballinaglera Co. Leitrim and formerly of Kilkeel, Co. Down.
James, predeceased by his parents Marie and James, and baby Thomas, will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Philomena, his children James (Joanne), and Ailíse (Conor McShea), granddaughter Éabha, sister Tanya and brother Stephen, sister in laws, brother in laws, nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives and a large circle of neighbours and good friends.
Heartfelt condolences have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered James, with one mourner writing,
"So sad to hear of the passing of James a coach at Four Masters National School for the past ten years. He was so energetic and positive and so proud of himself for going surfing a couple of year's ago in Tenerife. An inspiration to all and especially the children he coached. May he rest in peace."
Another wrote, "I’m so deeply sorry for your loss. Please know my heart is with you and your family during this unimaginable time of grief. James was a true gentleman, a gifted teacher and we were very lucky to have him at fitkids in Keadue. May your gentle soul Rest In Peace James."
While another added: "My deepest sympathy to the family of James, I only had the pleasure of meeting James a few times but he was someone who would leave a lasting impression, may he rest in peace."
Funeral Arrangements
James will repose at his home (N41YV09), in Tullynaha, Ballinaglera on Friday, February 21, from 2pm until 8pm.
One-way traffic system will be in operation, starting from the Ballinaglera Community Hall on the R207 via the Local Road L8299. Please follow direction of stewards along the route.
House Private at all other times.
Funeral Mass on Saturday at 12 noon in St Hugh's Church, Ballinaglera followed by burial in adjoining cemetery. Family flowers only please.
