Cissy passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2025, peacefully at the Croft Nursing Home, Inchicore, Dublin in her 99th year.
She is predeceased by her husband; John Patrick (Higgins), her parents; Tom and Mary Ann (Brennan), brothers; Joe and Mike, brothers in law; James, Bernard and Hugh, cousins and many dear friends.
Cissy will be sadly missed by her family; Mary, Patrick and Ann, her beloved sister; Anne, her cherished grandchildren; Dara, Feidhlim, Eoin, Hugh; Sean, Tom, Pierce, Faye; Danny, Matthew and Kate, granddaughters-in-law, grandson-in-law, her 13 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law; Carmel, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, close friends and neighbours.
Heartfelt condolences have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Cissy, with one mourner writing,
"Cissy was a remarkable person and a great life long friend to my parents. What a great age to have lived to, she was warm, always friendly had a great laugh and sense of style."
Another wrote,
"My deepest sympathy to all of Cissy’s family. I have lovely memories of her attending many social events in Longford Library always very stylish and sparkling company and very proud of her Leitrim roots. May her kind and gentle soul rest in eternal peace."
While a family member wrote,
"Cóbhrón ó chroí oraibh go léir. Heartfelt condolences to all the Higgins and extended clan. Aunty Cis was shining example of a life well lived. Her energy, sense of fun and kindness will be long remembered. She had the most amazing smile and was always the most glamorous person in the room. Tá sibh inár guid smaointe. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam."
Funeral Arrangements
Cissy will repose at Glennon's Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road, Longford (Eircode N39 EC81) on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, from 3.30pm concluding with prayers at 5.15pm.
Removal to arrive at St. Mel’s Cathedral, Longford for funeral mass on Thursday morning at 11am followed by burial to Cloone, Cemetery, Co. Leitrim.
