Body of elderly man found dead in parked vehicle in Leitrim town

It is understood that foul play is not suspected at this time following the discovery of a man in his seventies found deceased in a vehicle in Drumshanbo on Tuesday morning.

A man in his seventies was found deceased in a parked vehicle in South Leitrim on Tuesday, July 29, An Garda Síochána have confirmed.

Gardaí said the man's body was discovered in Drumshanbo at approximately 11:50am yesterday.

In the statement, Gardaí confirmed, “His remains were taken to the Mortuary at Sligo University Hospital for a post-mortem examination, the results of which will determine the course of the investigation.”

The local Coroner has been notified of the incident.

Gardaí stated they are investigating all circumstances surrounding the discovery of the man; however, it is understood that foul play is not suspected at this time.
