A Leitrim councillor said that a road that has "a major drop" at the side "may cause an accident".

Cllr Enda McGloin asked Leitrim County Council to review the road edging along the Drumshanbo to Aghacashel road 300m past the DVO office saying there was a "major drop that may cause an accident".

He asked for the drain to be removed and replaced with a pipe "which would widen the road on this busy stretch."

The response said that the District Office will assess this location and carry out these works if deemed necessary.

Cllr McGloin said there is an "open drain and the road narrows at a point beyond the DVO office so there is a concern that a vehicle could drop down. I'm hoping that section of the road could be drained and stoned and if someone does have to into the edge, they are not in danger of going down into the ditch."
