Drumshanbo councilor Enda McGloin said An Post was giving public representatives of the Ballinamore area the “two fingers” after failing to respond to queries about missing post boxes.
Since late 2019 Ballinamore Municipal District has been asking An Post if they would replace post boxes that went missing at the end of that year.
An Post condemned the theft of four post boxes at the time around the Cloone and Drumshanbo areas.
But since then they have not notified the council if they intend to replace those boxes.
Cllr McGloin said it was “unacceptable” that An Post would not engage and communicate their plans.
He asked his political colleagues, “where do we go now?”
It was suggested that the Minister of Communication be contacted.
Local councilors agreed “An Post has a responsibility to respond” and will now write to Eamon Ryan, Minister for Transport, Communication and the Environment outlining the lack of response from An Post on this issue.
