Boxtie's Big Box Ceilí Band in Rossinver

Thanks to Boxtie’s Johnny Gallagher, The Big Box Ceílí Band will appear in Rossinver Community Centre on Friday night July 1, with special guests Sean Gallagher and Patsy McCabe.

The Big Box Ceilí Band, is a big band of family and friends. The core of the show is simply made up of the famous “Boxtie Band” with Johnny Gallagher, Pauric Gallagher, James Gallagher, Sean O’Reilly, joined by “former Boxtie fiddle man” James McNamee.

The concept of their show is mixing all forms of modern music and making it sound Irish or giving it the Irish touch.

They are simply a Rock’n Roll band with a load of acoustic instruments.

“It’s a great blend of banjo, accordion, fiddle and whistle,” says Johnny, ”It’s Rock Pop and Reggae music. It’s the best of fun and makes a great night out for the listeners and it creates this big sound which makes everybody dance with great energy.”

The Boxtie Band have been playing music together for many years and entertaining audiences all over the world.

“Back in our youth we all played Irish Trad together at school and pub sessions. The Big Box Ceílí band is an opportunity which gives us all a chance and a place to perform together again. We get to play our favourite Irish music pieces and some original music, plus changing some of our favourite pop and rock songs and turning them into crazy Irish sounding classics,” says Johnny.

Sean Gallagher has been performing music since his youth with his brother Jimmy. They came through the Irish Rock’n Roll era with different musical influences and careers. But together they shared international success throughout the 70s and 80s, achieving chart success with The Fitzgeralds Ceili band and their own Stampede. Patsy McCabe, family friend and Belcoo man will join them on the night

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to hear them all together at home in Ireland. Show starts at 10pm with full bar. Tickets €15. For more information and tickets call Betty on (071) 9832970 or Michelle Delaney (071) 9832970.
