So what movies are on offer at the cinema this festive season?

Stuck for something to do during the festive season? Are the kids bored at home or are you just hoping to escape the nightmare of detangling the christmas lights for a few more hours?

Well here are some of what's on and what's coming to Carrick Cineplex, Carrick-on-Shannon this December!

A Bad Moms Christmas (16)

Release Date: available now

Directed by Jon Lucas and scot more this movie is a follow up on the previous Bad Moms (2016) offering. Under-appreciated and overburdened moms Amy, Kiki and Carla rebel against the challenges and expectations of the Super Bowl for moms: Christmas. As if creating the perfect holiday for their families isn't hard enough, they'll have to do it while hosting and entertaining their own respective mothers when they come to visit.
Starring: Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, Kathryn Hahn

Ferdinand 2D (G)

Release Date: Officially released on December 16 but some pre-release screenings are available

Directed by Carlos Saldanha, Cathy Malkasian and  Jeff McGrath this film isn't officially on release until next week but there are some screenings available prior to that (i.e. December 9 and 10 at Carrick Cineplex). After Ferdinand, a bull with a big heart, is mistaken for a dangerous beast, he is captured and torn from his home. Determined to return to his family, he rallies a misfit team on the ultimate adventure.

Starring: Kate McKinnon, David Tennant, John Cena

Paddington 2 (G)

Release Date: Released now

Directed by Paul King this is the second installment of the big-budget Paddington movies.  Paddington, now happily settled with the Brown family and a popular member of the local community, picks up a series of odd jobs to buy the perfect present for his Aunt Lucy's 100th birthday, only for the gift to be stolen. Cue all sorts of mayhem as the bear from Peru tries to solve the crime and get his Aunt's gift back.

Starring: Hugh Grant, Ben Whishaw, Brendan Gleeson

Justice League (12A)

Release Date: Released now

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes — Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash — it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi in 2D and 3D (12A)

Release Date: December 15

The much-anticipated next installment in the Star Wars franchise is directed by Rian Johnson. Rey develops her newly discovered abilities with the guidance of Luke Skywalker, who is unsettled by the strength of her powers. Meanwhile, the Resistance prepares to do battle with the First Order.

Starring: Daisy Ridley, Domhnall Gleeson, John Boyega.
